the early years
As a young person I noticed that there was so much illness that ran in my family. Some members had diabetes, heart disease and others had mental illneses. I noticed how many members of the family spend many years of there life in the doctors office trying to manage these many ailments. I always felt that there must be somthing that we where doing wrong. Why was it that we had so many illnesses?
I began to research but mostly I had such a strong desire to know that information began to come to me. At the time I did not know that there was any thing called natural health. My sister turned me on to a book called, Back To Eden by Jethro Kloss. I was so excited because this was the first time I read a book that described ways that you could control the way you felt based on the things you took into your body like foods and herbs. I was beside myself with excitement.
I wanted to learn all I could and I experimented a lot with the different herbal healing preparations that I read about in that book. The real game changer
came when I got pregnant with my first child. I wanted to have a very healthy child so I applied as many of the health conscious technologies as I could; trying to produce a child who would not suffer, from the health conditions I saw so often in the people around me.
Keina, my first born came into the world in Hawaii as well as Nia my second daughter. Hawaii was the perfect place to begin an even deeper practice of unraveling the mysteries of what the human body really needs, to be balanced, healthy, wholesome and mentally sound. Four and a half years in Hawaii supplied the perfect backdrop for getting deeply into natural health yoga and a very healthy and happy lifestyle. While we were living in Hawaii I grew our own vegetables and made coconut oil from the trees that where in our backyard. My best friend while we where living in Hawaii would always ask me why I always worked so hard to make everything fresh, grow my own food and herbs and give my children fresh herb teas and fruit juices. She would always ask me why I didn't just use Hamburger Helper and give them box drinks. When she first asked me that question I thought the answer was so obvious, but to her it seemed like the extra work I put in to care for my family was pointless. I don't think the answer came to her until much latter. When I ran into this girl many years later she had had 16 surgeries.
When our family returned to the east coast of the US I tryed to get every one I knew into natural health. Most people where not interested, not until they really had something wrong with there health.
By this time I was so into it, I had solved many problems in my own body and was able to get a few friends and family members interested. I had gathered much information but I decided that I wanted to have a degree so that I would have credibility. I went to Clayton School of Natural Health and recieved Bachelor of Science in Natural Health.
I now run a organic and all natural child care center where children are trained in natural lifestyle. I also councel families and individuals on how to transition to a natural lifestyle.
