Kundalini Yoga

|
Kundalini (koon-da-lee-ni) Yoga can be thought of as a "healing art". Its practiced in "kriyas" or sets which are a particular series of yoga positions, mantras and meditations, which are combined and practiced as a single unit. It's used to achieve the desired physical, emotional, mental and spiritual results in the practitioner.
For example, Kriyas have been designed to improve flexibility, improve the functioning of specific organs and glands, to loose weight, increase energy, improve sleep, or to even improve mental clarity and self-awarenessjust to name a few. Kundalini is not an aerobics exercise activity, and does not involve extreme physical postures and contortions. Our yoga classes provide a "no-impact" form of exercise for anyone desiring to "tune-up" their bodys functioning as-well-as those needing a gradual way to bring their body back in shape after illness, injury or surgery.
Every participant of the class is encouraged to not "over do", and to work at their own personal level based on their individual physical abilities, age, flexibility and experience. Over stretching is avoided at all cost. You dont have to be in top physical shape to enter the class and take advantage of the often immediate results of Kundalini yoga. And, as you begin to feel better, looser and stronger, you can choose to increase your range of motion, to better perfect your posture, or simply hold it longer. You move at your own pace. This is why our classes are suited for beginners and more advanced practitioners alike. Our classes are co-ed and we accept teens and up. |

What each yoga class entails
|
|
|
|
|
|
| The classes are 90 minutes long. Each begins with an easy warm-up section of mild stretching and easy movements. This is then followed by the main yoga set and forms the bulk of the class session. Relaxing meditative music is played throughout the class. Towards the end of the set, a meditation segment is used to help everyone fully integrate the effects of the exercise. Finally a complete relaxation segment is presented, accompanied by the spellbinding drone of the instructors gong. |

What you need for class
|
|
|
|
|
|
| You need to be wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothes. Shoes and socks are not worn during class. A yoga mat is required. For drop-ins, we have mats available. If you're a regular, we encourage you to owne your own mat. You can buy them form us if you like. You may also want to bring bottled water and a towel. For best range of motion, it's suggested that you do not eat for at least two hours prior to class. |

Costs and Class Session Scheduling
|
|
|
|
|
| The courses are six weeks long, each week containing one 90 minute class. The cost for the entire six week course is $90.00, and is paid in advance. If youd rather not commit for the entire 6 weeks, you can "drop-in" and attend single classes as desired. The drop-in rate is $20 per class and can be paid in advance or at the door. You save $30 over the six week period by purchasing the course verses attending as a weekly drop-in.
